Changing the Default Character Font in Equations Palette in FrameMaker for UNIX

To specify a font other than Symbol as the default for characters in the Equations palette, you must edit the MathCharacters file in the $FMHOME/fminit/ directory as described in chapter 6, "Managing Fonts," in the online manual. You can specify only a font family and an angle for these charactersbecause the syntax for character statements in the MathCharacters file is as follows:

<CharacterName CharacterCode FontFamily Angle>

For example, you cannot specify MathematicalPi-Four as the default math characters font because Four is a variation, rather than an angle, of the MathematicalPi font. You can use the font in an equation by creating a character format that uses the MathematicalPi-Four font and then applying that character format to a string.
