Fewer Fonts than Expected Available in FrameMaker for Windows 95

Issue

The font menu in Adobe FrameMaker 5 or later for Windows lists fewer fonts than expected.

Detail

Generic/Text Only is selected as the default printer.

Solutions

Change the default printer to a PostScript or PCL printer:

1. Exit from FrameMaker.

2. Choose Start > Settings > Printers.

3. Right-click a PostScript or PCL printer.

4. Choose Set As Default from the pop-up menu.

5. Start FrameMaker.

Note: If a PostScript or PCL printer is not in the list of printers, install one using the Add Printer Wizard. Forinstructions, refer to Windows' online Help.

Additional Information

The default printer determines the font mapping and document formatting that FrameMaker uses. The Generic/Text Only setting does not support most fonts (i.e., it supports only mono-spaced fonts). Therefore, when Generic/Text Only is selected as the default printer, only mono-spaced fonts appear in the list of available fonts.
