Quick Access and Formatting Bars Don't Reappear After Editing an Embedded OLE2 Object in FrameMaker 5.x for Windows
Issue
After you edit an embedded OLE2 object in Adobe FrameMaker 5.x for Windows, the QuickAccess and formatting bars do not reappear.
Detail
The OLE2 object was imported from Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel.
Solutions
Do one of the following:
In FrameMaker, choose View > QuickAccess Bar, and then choose View > Formatting Bar.
OR: If you are using FrameMaker 5.1.1p2c or later, import the object and then link it to the original application file:
1. Open the FrameMaker document.
2. Choose File > Import > Object.
3. In the Insert Object dialog box, select Create from File, select the Link option, and then click Browse.
4. Navigate to the object file you want to import, then click Insert.
5. Click OK.
OR: If you are using FrameMaker 5.1.2 or later, use the Paste Special command to import the object as a link:
1. Open the original object in its source application, then copy the object to the clipboard.
2. Open the FrameMaker document, then click an insertion point.
3. Choose Edit > Paste Special.
4. Select Paste Link, then click OK.
NOTE: To determine the version of FrameMaker, choose Help > About FrameMaker, then click More.
Additional Information
When you edit an embedded Microsoft OLE2 object, the menus and toolbars from the object's source application (i.e., Word, Excel) replace FrameMaker's QuickAccess and formatting bars. After you edit the object and then return to FrameMaker, the QuickAccess and formatting bars will not automatically reappear. When you edit a Microsoft OLE2 object that was pasted or imported as a link, a separate source application window opens, so the QuickAccess and formatting bars are not replaced.
