How to Create Separate HTML Files for a Book in FrameMaker 5.5
When you save an Adobe FrameMaker 5.5 book file as HTML, FrameMaker creates one HTML file for all files in the book. However, you can generate separate HTML files from a single book file to create separate web pages for each file in the book.
When FrameMaker maps the book's paragraph or character tags to the HTML styles, it stores the mappings on reference pages added to the first file in the book. The BookHTML and BookHeadings reference pages in this file control the HTML conversion from a book. FrameMaker only looks at the first file in the book for the BookHTML reference pages.
To create separate HTML files, choose a paragraph tag that will signify the start of a new web page, then edit the BookHTML reference pages. Any paragraph tag mapped to a heading can be selected to begin a new web page.
For example, if you have a paragraph tag named Title, you can make each occurrence of Title within the book a new web page by saving the book file as HTML and changing the reference pages in the first file.
1. Open the book file.
2. Choose File > Save As, then choose HTML from the Save As Type pop-up menu.
3. Enter the filename, including the ".html" extension, then click Save.
4. Open the first file in the book file.
5. Choose View > Reference Pages.
6. Go to the BookHTML Reference Page (the reference page name is listed at the bottom).
7. Locate the P:Title cell in the FrameMaker Source Item column of the HTML Mapping Table.
8. Change N to Y in the New Web Page column.
9. Choose View > Body Pages, then save and close the file.
10. Save the book file as HTML.
