Automatic Hypertext Links Fail When the Filename of the Source Document Contains Two Consecutive Spaces

Issue

When you click on a hypertext link in a generated list, Adobe FrameMaker 5.x returns the error, "Cannot access the file named <filename>. The file was not found. 30014:-43," where filename is the name of the source document.

Detail

The filename of the source document has two consecutive spaces.

Solutions

Do one of the following:

Solution 1

Remove the two consecutive spaces from the file name of the source document and regenerate the list. Then do one or more of the following:

- If you are working on a single document:

1. Choose File > Generate/Book.

2. Choose the appropriate type of generated list and click Generate.

3. Verify that all of the desired paragraph tags are in the Include Paragraphs Tagged field, then click Generate.

- If you are working on a book file:

1. Choose File > Generate/Update.

2. Make sure the generated list is in the Generate field, then click Update.

Solution 2

In the generated list, edit the hypertext marker so that the filename of the source document contains two consecutive spaces:

1. Open the generated list.

2. If FrameMaker does not display text symbols in the document, choose View > Text Symbols.

3. Choose Special > Marker to open the Marker dialog box.

4. Select the hypertext marker.

5. Edit the source document's filename in the Marker Text box so it has two consecutive spaces, then click Edit Marker.

6. Repeat steps 4-5 for other markers whose source document's filename contains two consecutive spaces.

7. Choose File > Save to save these modifications.

Note: If you regenerate the list after modifying the markers, all modifications will be lost.

Additional Information

When the filename of a source document contains two consecutive spaces, automatic hypertext links in a generated list will not work. This is because the filename in the marker text contains only one space.
