Fractions Characters Don't Appear in FrameMaker for Mac OS or UNIX

Issue

When you open an Adobe FrameMaker for Windows document in FrameMaker for Mac OS or UNIX, fraction characters (e.g., 1/4, 1/2, 3/4) are missing from the document.

Solution

After opening the document in FrameMaker for Mac OS or UNIX, use the Equation Palette to create the fractions.

Additional Information

The FrameMaker for Mac OS or UNIX character sets don't include 1/2, 1/4, and 3/4 characters, because they were not included in PostScript fonts at the time these character sets were devised. The slots these characters occupy in the FrameMaker for Windows character set are "reserved" slots in the UNIX and Mac OS character sets. Thus, Adobe cannot guarantee that they will appear or print correctly on these platforms.
