Black-and-White GIF Files Are Gray Boxes in FrameMaker 5.0x and 5.1x for Windows
Issue
A black-and-white GIF file inan Adobe FrameMaker 5.0.x or 5.1.x for Windows document appears on-screen and prints as a gray box.
Solutions
Do one of the following:
Solution 1
Use FrameMaker 5.5 or later. For information on upgrading to the current version, visit Adobe's Web site at www.adobe.com/products/framemaker/main.html .
Solution 2
Open the GIF file in another application (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Hijaak Pro, or xv) and convert it to full-color (256 colors) or grayscale. Then, import the new file into FrameMaker.
Additional Information
The GIF import filter included with FrameMaker 5.0.x and 5.1.x for Windows does not correctly import black-and-white GIF files. When you import this type of GIF file into a FrameMaker document, FrameMaker displays and prints it as a gray box. FrameMaker correctly displays and prints full-color (256 colors) GIF files.
