Installing AdobePS 4.1 Included with FrameMaker 5.1.x for Windows 95
The AdobePS 4.1 PostScript Printer Driver included with Adobe FrameMaker 5.1.x for Windows supports only Windows 95.
To install the AdobePS 4.1 PostScript Printer Driver from the FrameMaker 5.1.x CD-ROM:
1. Exit from all applications.
2. Insert the Adobe FrameMaker 5.1.x CD into your CD-ROM drive.
3. If AutoPlay is disabled, go to step 4. If AutoPlay is enabled, click Exit to exit from the FrameMaker installer.
4. Choose Start > Run.
5. In the Open text box, type "x:\adobeps4\adobeps4\setup.exe," where "x" is the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive.
6. Read the License Agreement, then click Accept if you accept the terms of the license. If you do not click Accept, the installation program will exit.
7. If you plan to install other printer drivers later, click Yes to copy the Setup program to your hard disk, and then click Next.
8. If your printer is connected directly to your computer, select Local Printer, and then click Next in the Printer Type dialog box.
OR: If your printer is not connected to your computer and you want to create PostScript files, select Local Printer, and then click Next in the Printer Type dialog box.
OR: If your printer is on a network, select Network Printer, and then click Next in the Printer Type Dialog Box. In the Network Path dialog box, type the network path or queue name, or click Browse to locate the printer, and then click Next.
9. In the Install PostScript Printer From PPD dialog box, install the PostScript Printer Definition (PPD) files by doing either of the following:
- If the printer is already installed, click Drives in the Install PostScript from PPD dialog box, then select your local drive and navigate to Windows > System. Select the desired PPD and click Next.
- If the printer is not installed, install the PPD files included on the FrameMaker 5.1.x CD:
1. In the Drives list, select the drive indicator for your CD drive.
2. Open the Adobeps4/PPDs folder on the FrameMaker 5.1.x CD.
3. Open the folder with the name of your printer's manufacturer (e.g., Agfa, Hewlett-Packard, IBM).
4. Select the printer you want to install by highlighting the printer name, and then click Next.
NOTE: The PPD file contains information specific to the printer. If the PPD file you need is not listed on the FrameMaker CD-ROM or on the hard drive, contact the printer manufacturer.
10. If you are installing the printer driver for a local printer, select a port from the list of available ports in the Local Port Selection dialog box, then click Next.
11. In the Add Printer dialog box, either accept the default name for the printer or type in a new name.
12. Click Yes if you want this printer to be the default printer in Windows.
13. Click Yes if you want to print a test page, then click Next. The setup utility will display the printer's Properties dialog box.
14. Adjust the Properties for your printer as desired in the Properties dialog box, then click OK to return to the Setup program.
15. Either click Exit in the Setup dialog box to quit AdobePS 4 PostScript Printer Driver Setup, or click Add Another to add another printer. Then follow steps 8 -15 to install the other printer.
