Error Type 11 When Accessing the Open Dialog Box in FrameMaker 5.1 for Mac OS 7.5

Issue

When you choose File > Open in Adobe FrameMaker 5.1, Mac OS, returns a Type 11 error and FrameMaker quits.

Details

You are running FrameMaker on a 68K Macintosh.

You installed FrameMaker using the Custom installation option.

Solutions

Do one of the following:

Solution 1

Use FrameMaker 5.5.6 or later. For information on upgrading to the current version, visit Adobe's Web site at www.adobe.com/products/framemaker/main.html .

Solution 2

Reinstall FrameMaker using the Typical installation option:

1. Quit FrameMaker, and then open the folder in which the FrameMaker folder is installed.

2. Drag the FrameMaker folder to the Trash.

3. Open the System Folder:Preferences folder.

4. Drag the FrameMaker 5 Prefs file to the trash.

5. Reinstall FrameMaker using the Typical Installation option.

Additional Information

The FrameMaker 5.1 installer does not install some 68K components when you use the Custom installation option in Mac OS 7.5. Consequently, a Type 11 error occurs if you choose File > Open when FrameMaker 5.1 is installed on a 68K Macintosh.
