Opening a MIF File in FrameMaker 5.0.x Creates Extra Blank Pages

Issue

When you open a MIF file containing several tables in FrameMaker 5.0.x, extra blank pages appear at the end of the document.

Solutions

Do either of the following:

Solution 1

Use FrameMaker 5.1 or later. For information on upgrading to the current version, visit Adobe's Web site at www.adobe.com/products/framemaker/main.html .

Solution 2

In FrameMaker 5.0.x, save the file in Normal format to remove the pages:

1. Choose Format > Document > Numbering.

2. In the Number Properties dialog box, select Delete Empty Pages from the Before Saving & Printing pop-up menu; then click Set.

3. Save the document in Normal format.

Additional Information

When opening a MIF (Maker Interchange Format) file containing several tables, FrameMaker 5.0.x adds extra blank pages to the end of the document. Saving the file in Normal format with the Delete Empty Pages option selected removes the blank pages.

FrameMaker 5.1 or later does not add extra blank pages when opening a MIF file containing tables.
