How to Use Older Filters from the Command Line in FrameMaker 5.5 for UNIX

Adobe FrameMaker 5.5 for UNIX includes some filters from the previous FrameMaker release (FrameMaker 5.1.1). FrameMaker 5.5 does not display these filters in the Unknown File Type dialog box when you open documents from other applications. They are located in $FMHOME/bin, and must be invoked from the command line. These filters are:

- dcatomif

- iaftomif (Interleaf 4 and 5, IAF 6.4 and 8.0 respectively)

- trofftomif

- miftoiaf (IAF 6.4)

Use the following syntax from the command line to invoke these filters:

$FMHOME/bin/filter input_file output_file (where "filter" is the name of the filter, such as iaftomif)

NOTE: There were no enhancements made to these filters from FrameMaker 5.1.1. Also note that, in FrameMaker 5.5, there is a different Interleaf filter that is invoked when you import or open an Interleaf Ascii file. This default filter supports Interleaf 5 and 6 (IAF 8.0 and 9.6) only. Interleaf 4 files are filtered from the command line using the iaftomif filter.
