PDFWriter prints book files as thumbnails in FrameMaker (5.0-5.2 on Mac OS)
Issue
When you use Adobe Acrobat PDFWriter on Mac OS to print an Adobe FrameMaker 5 to 5.2 book file to PDF, the first file in the book prints as expected, but others print as thumbnails.
Solutions
Do any of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Use FrameMaker 5.5 or later.
For upgrade information, visit the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/products/framemaker/main.html .
Solution 2: Print the book file to PostScript and then use Adobe Acrobat Distiller to convert the PostScript file to PDF.
Use the Adobe PostScript (AdobePS) printer driver to print the book file to PostScript and then use Adobe Acrobat Distiller to convert the PostScript file to PDF. You can download AdobePS from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html .
Solution 3: Print individual files to PDF, rather than the book file.
Background information
An incompatibility between Acrobat PDFWriter and FrameMaker 5.0-5.2 for Mac OS prevents book files from printing correctly to PDF.
