How to Create Separate PostScript Files for Files in a FrameMaker Book

When you print a book to PostScript, Adobe FrameMaker creates one PostScript file by default. To create a separate PostScript file for each file in the book, use an asterisk as the filename in the Print dialog box:

1. Choose File > Print with the book window active.

2. In the Print Files in Book dialog box, specify the files you want to print, and then click Print.

3. Select Print Only to File in the Print dialog box.

4. In the adjacent text box, specify a location for the saved file and use "*" for the filename. (e.g., X:\foldername1\foldername2\*).

5. Click Print. FrameMaker creates a PostScript file for each file in the book, adding a .ps filename extension.

Note: If you use the Windows 3.1 Cross-Platform Naming Convention (which you can specify in the Preferences dialog box), FrameMaker for Windows overwrites each generated list's filename extension with the .ps extension. For example, test.ix and test.toc each receive the name test.ps, with one file overwriting the other.
