Double-Clicking a Microsoft Word File Starts a Frame Product
Issue
Double-clicking a Microsoft Word file starts an Adobe Frame 5 product instead of Word.
Solutions
Do one of the following:
Solution 1
Upgrade the Frame product to 5.5.x.
Solution 2
Associate the *.doc extension with Word:
For Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT:
1. Choose Start > Programs > Windows Explorer.
2. In Windows 95 or Windows NT, choose View > Options. In Windows 98, choose View > Folder Options.
3. Click the File Types tab.
4. Select Microsoft Word from the "Registered file types" list and then click Edit. The Edit File Type dialog box appears.
5. Select Open in the Actions field and then click Edit.
6. Click Browse, find and select the Winword.exe file, and then click Open.
7. In the "Application used to perform action" field, add a space followed by " %1" after "winword.exe," and then click OK.
8. Click OK in the Edit File Type dialog box.
For Windows 3.1x:
1. In File Manager, click the icon for a document with a *.doc extension.
2. Choose File > Associate.
3. In the Associate With list, choose MS Word document and then click OK.
Additional Information
Installing a Frame 5 product for Windows 3.1x in Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT overwrites the *.doc filename association in the Win.ini file.
In Windows 3.1x, the Win.ini file determines which filename extension is associated with which application. Upon installation, applications place association information into the Win.ini file. Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT use the Win.ini file to provide compatibility for Windows 3.1x applications.
