Cannot Make the Symbol Font Bold or Oblique in FrameMaker
Adobe FrameMaker cannot apply bold or oblique formatting to Type 1 fonts, such as Symbol, that have only one instance. FrameMaker can apply bold or oblique formatting to a font only if the font is installed and has bold or oblique instances.
