Updated Debug Flash Player 7 for Flex 1.5 and Flex Builder 1.5

Issue

Due to a recent update to Flash Player 7, we are releasing an update to the debug version of the Flash Player 7 that ships with Flex 1.5 and Flex Builder 1.5.

Reason

Please refer to Security Bulletin 06-11 for more details on this update.

Solution

  1. Uninstall Debug Flash Player 7 that shipped with Flex 1.5 or Flex Builder 1.5.
    1. Using the Macromedia Flash Player Uninstallers:
      1. Download the platform-specific Flash player uninstaller at the URL below:
      2. Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it.
      3. Close all open web browsers.
      4. Run the uninstaller. This will uninstall the Macromedia Flash Player from all browsers on the system.
    2. Manually uninstalling the ActiveX Flash player:
      1. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
      2. From the Start menu, choose Search > Files or Folders and search for "flash.ocx".
      3. Note the path to the file. The path is typically:

        C:\Windows\System\Macromed\Flash on Windows 95, 98 or WinME;
        C:\WinNT\System32\Macromed\Flash on Windows NT or 2000;
        C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash on Windows XP.

        If more than one copy of the file is found, note the paths to all copies of the file.
      4. From the Windows Start menu, select Start > Run.
      5. In the text box labeled "Open", type "cmd" to open a DOS command window.
      6. Navigate to the directory noted above (for example: C:\>cd C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash)
      7. At the command prompt, type the following command:

        regsvr32 -u flash.ocx

        to remove the Flash Player.
  2. Install the latest Flash Debug Player.

    Download the updated Debug Flash Player 7. (1.77MB)

    You must close all other browser windows before installing.

    Clicking the Install Now button means you have accepted the terms of the End User License Agreement.

    Windows Installation Instructions

    1. Installation of Macromedia Flash Player may require administrative access to your PC, which is normally provided by your IT department. It is recommended that you close all other open browser windows before continuing with the installation.
    2. Click the Install Now button to automatically download and install Macromedia Flash Player into Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    3. Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box. Click Install to install the ActiveX control.
