Adobe compatibility with Apple Macintosh OS X v 10.4 (Tiger)

Adobe and Apple are working together to ensure compatibility between Adobe products and Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger". Before choosing to install Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger," users should review the following known issues to determine if they are relevant to their workflow. Adobe and Apple are working together on these issues. Please note that all products may not be affected by all issues. This TechNote will be updated as issues are resolved.

Applications require re-Activation after upgrading
topic update: January 4, 2006
Issue

Users who upgrade using either the "Archive and Install" or the "Erase and Install" features will be forced to Reactivate their Adobe applications. After the upgrade, users are prompted to Activate their software.

Solution

Update: This issue has been resolved for Adobe Contribute users in Contribute 3.11. Please download the updater.

This issue and the solution are described in Upgrading to Macintosh OS X version 10.3.9 or to Tiger (version 10.4) (ServiceNote d27f67d4).

F12 Function Key not available to applications
topic update: April 29, 2005
Issue

The Function Key F12 is reserved in Macintosh OS 10.4 for the new utility, Dashboard. Any user attempting to perform a function within an application by using the F12 key will instead open the Dashboard utility.

Solution

The issue can be resolved by mapping the F12 function key assigned to Dashboard to another keystroke combination. This allows the F12 function key to be used for Macromedia applications.
