ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater: Hot Fix to upgrade web server connectors

Issue

Macromedia has created a hot fix rollup for the most reported connector issues for the ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater. The hot fixes listed below affect all connectors unless noted.

  • 55695 - Microsoft IIS (inetinfo.exe) memory leak with SSL in Updater 3
  • 59419 - SSL Client Certificate information lost if the connector needs two tries to make the connection to JRun
  • 58965 - Apache connector fills up Apache error logs with "initialized proxy for" messages for each Apache process
  • 55019 - Excessive "Connection Reset" errors logged caused by client not waiting for request to finish (robots, etc)
  • 59740 - Connector displays ".<" in browser instead of "Server Error"
  • 59590 - "Connection Reset by Peer" log messages if browser waits longer than jrun.xml "timeout" setting
  • 55816 - Increase header size > 4k for filters such as SiteMinder that need slightly more

Note This hot fix requires the ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater and should not be used with any other version of ColdFusion MX or JRun.

The connector installer and connectors contained in this hot fix are build 106139 .

Note: This hot fix was updated on 4/7/05. If you downloaded the file prior to this date, please obtain the newest version available below.

Solution

ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater - Server Configuration

Follow the instructions below to install the hot fix for ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater 1 in the server configuration.

Note: This hot fix should not be installed for ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater in the J2EE Configuration with JRun. J2EE Configuration with JRun users should install JRun 4 Updater 5 instead of installing this hot fix. The same fixes are included with JRun 4 Updater 5.

All Platforms

  1. Download the hot fix (2.3MB).
  2. Stop ColdFusion and the web server.
  3. Rename the wsconfig.jar in the existing installation to wsconfig.jar.u1.old
  4. Extract wsconfig.jar from the downloaded ZIP file, into the following directory:
    Server Configuration: cf_root\runtime\lib\
  5. Go to a DOS (Windows) or shell prompt (Unix/Linux) and change directory to cf_root/bin/connectors.
  6. Execute Upgrade_all_connectors.bat (Windows) or upgrade_all_connectors.sh (Unix)

Note: If the web server is on a different system than ColdFusion/JRun, rename the old wsconfig.jar on the system with the web server and replace it with the version from the download. Run the upgrade from step 5 above.

Additional Information

To obtain the version of any connector installer file (wsconfig.jar), run the following command from a DOS or shell prompt:

java -jar wsconfig.jar -info
