Released date: September 16, 2004.

Updates to the Director Scripting Reference

  • Director Scripting Reference> Director Core Objects > Window
    The entry was updated to explicitly state that the windowType property has been deprecated.
  • Director Scripting Reference>Writing Scripts in Director > Object-oriented programming with Lingo > Creating timeout objects
    This page was updated to include correct descriptions of how to create timeout objects using both JS and Lingo syntax.
  • dvdEventNotification, frameStep (both for DVD)
    Both definitions were corrected as they were inaccurate.
  • trayIconDoubleClick
    The entry was updated to reflect the proper event name which is actually trayIconMouseDoubleClick.
  • timeoutList:
    This entry had a see also link for the window object's forget() method, now it links to the timeout object's forget() method entry.
  • transform()
    This entry incorrectly indicated that you could create a transform using transform(n1,n2,n3,...,n15,n16) which is not the case, that has been corrected.
  • getOSDirector
    The reference entry cited this as an Xtra method which it is not, it's a global method, this has been corrected.
  • new()
    This entry was updated so that it correctly cited JS syntax options as well as proper timeout object creation.
  • playRate (Windows Media)
    This entry previously stated that the playRate property was both get and set capable when that's not the case, the entry now correctly cites that this property is get only.
  • modelsUnderLoc, modelsUnderRay
    Both entries were updated to include information about the new ray-casting options introduced in the MX'04 release.
  • parseURL()
    This entry was updated so that it included a JS syntax example.
  • postNetText
    This entry was updated to include some "gotcha" information about problems posting to PHP scripts.
  • quickTimeVersion
    This entry was updated to reflect the proper casing of the method, it is now correctly listed as QuickTimeVersion (essential for JS syntax users).
  • sprite()
    This entry was updated to include information about the difference in behavior of this function based on the value assigned to scriptExecutionStyle.
  • Timeout()
    This entry's see also links were updated to include the various timeout object related entries.
  • folder (DVD)
    This entry was updated to properly discuss x-platform differences in specifying the folder path.

Updated to the Using Director guide:

  • Using Director > Packaging Movies for Distribution > Changing Publish Settings
    This help page was updated to describe the use of the Save as Defaults button to customize the default values for each of the tabs in the Publish Settings dialog. In addition it discusses how to reset the defaults to the as-shipped values.
  • Using Director > Movies in a Window > Setting the window size and location for a MIAW > About rect, drawRect and stageRect
    This page contained an error in the code cited at the bottom for setting the rect of a window, this code error has been fixed.
  • Using Director > Movies in a Window > MIAW events
    This page was updated to include the revealWindow and collapseWindow events that occur for dockable windows in authoring.
  • Using Director > Using Digital Video > Using DVD media content in Director > Linking to DVD media content
    This page was updated as it's description of how to link to DVD media was insufficient.
