Flash Text and Flash Buttons cannot be inserted when using double byte, high ASCII and special characters
Issue
Flash Text or Flash Buttons cannot be inserted into a Dreamweaver page if the file path to the Flash Text or Flash Button SWF file contains a double byte character, high ASCII text or a special character.
Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
When using Insert > Media > Flash Button or Insert > Media > Flash Text, the following error message will appear after you click 'OK' in the Insert Flash Button dialog box or Insert Flash Text dialog box if the path to the local folder contains a double byte character.
Macintosh Operating Systems
When using Insert > Media > Flash Button or Insert > Media > Flash Text, Dreamweaver will fail to create the Flash object when the path to the local folder contains a double byte, high ASCII or special character. A user sees no error dialog box in the Macintosh version of Dreamweaver, but Dreamweaver does not generate the Flash Button or Text object. The issue is also apparent when you view the HTML code used to embed the Flash object, as illustrated below:
<embed href="/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/undefined" ...></embed>
Instead of saying "undefined," the code should have the name of the SWF file for the Flash Button or Text object.
Solution
Avoid using double byte, high ASCII or special characters when working with Flash Buttons or Flash Text in Dreamweaver:
- Do not use double byte, high ASCII, or special characters in the local folder or file name. Make sure to check the entire path.
- Do not use double byte, high ASCII, or special characters in the site definition name.
