Installing the Flash Debug Player
Flex provides an ActionScript command line debugger that uses a debug version of the Flash player. This TechNote describes how to install and verify the installation of the debug player.
The Flex ActionScript command-line debugger, fdb, lets you step through and debug ActionScript files used by your Flex applications. To leverage the fdb utility, first verify that the Flash debug player is installed. The Flash movie below displays your browser's Flash player version.
Flex applications require a Flash player version 7,0,14 or newer. Flex's fdb debugging utility requires the Flash "ActiveX Content Debugger Player" version 7.0.14 or newer.
Users with the Flash release player will see their player version as Flash player type "Release ActiveX Player." The following screen shot shows what you will see when the release player is installed.
