ColdFusion MX 6.1: Error when accessing Verity Collections page in the ColdFusion Administrator

Issue

When attempting to access the Verity Collections page within the ColdFusion Administrator, the following error may be encountered:

You must configure your application server to enable Verity. For instructions, see "Configuring ColdFusion MX" in the "Installing and Using ColdFusion MX" book for your application server.

In addition to the message above, a Windows error message dialog box may pop up with the following error:

Dynamic link library MSVCP60.dll could not be found in the specified path

ColdFusion MX and higher requires Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 runtime or higher, as detailed in the ColdFusion MX System Requirements. msvcp60.dll is one of the core files installed as part of this package.

NOTE: In the J2EE configuration, the message above is correct, as post-installation steps are required to enable certain functionality such as Verity, COM, and Corba that require operating-system specific binaries as documented in the Installing the J2EE Configuration documentation.

Solution

Windows 98 and XP users can update the runtime components using the options listed in ColdFusion MX: Installation fails with MSVCRT.dll error (TechNote 18937). On computers that are running Windows 2000, these components can be updated through the latest operating system updates and service packs for the operating system. Alternatively, copy msvcp60.dll from another machine, placing it in the winnt\system32 directory.
