ColdFusion and JRun: Support Policy for Free Editions of Red Hat Linux

Red Hat has announced a new policy to discontinue support for free Red Hat Linux editions - What is the support policy for ColdFusion and JRun in this situation?

While Red Hat has set an aggressive schedule, we believe that the long term effect will be to increase customer satisfaction as Red Hat concentrates its resources on fewer versions of Linux. We encourage our customers to check with Red Hat for more details on their migration policy and whenever possible to use the most current supported release.

In order to minimize customer dislocation, we will continue to support Red Hat version 7.x and 8.0 as they exist on their date of discontinuation for the foreseeable future. We will maintain these version(s) in our lab and continue to provide technical support for our ColdFusion and JRun customers. It is important to note that we cannot address any OS related issues that exist at the time, or are introduced after, Red Hat discontinues supporting a particular version. It is also likely that we will not be able to offer corrections to ColdFusion or JRun that Macromedia determines are caused by alterations to the operating system.

Currently, ColdFusion MX supports AS & ES versions 2.1 and 3.0. Testing for JRun 4.0 is underway on these platforms and is anticipated to be certified in the January/February 2004 timeframe. Macromedia will not support the latest open source version of Red Hat Linux, Fedora, for ColdFusion or JRun.
