Applications installed during closed beta do not work with Central
Issue
Applications created during the closed beta period will not work with the public release of Central.
Reason
The product IDs provided during the closed beta period will not be accepted by the public release of Central.
Solution
Obtain a new product ID for your application. Even if you change nothing else about your application, this will mean you will need to change the product.xml file.
- Uninstall the old version of the application from Central. To do this, launch Central, choose the application name from the list of installed applications, then click the Uninstall button.
- Obtain a new product ID. You get this ID number by logging in to a page on the Macromedia website (http://www.macromedia.com/go/central_productid).
- Replace the old product id in your product.xml file with the new product id.
- Install the new application with the new product.xml file:
- Copy the installation.swf and installation.html files from the Utilities/InstallationBadge folder of the SDK.
- Place the files into the same folder as your product.xml and application files (including the application and icon SWF files).
- Copy the folder to a web server (local or remote). For example, if you have a typical IIS installation, you would copy the folder for your application to the webroot folder in the inetpub folder. The minimum files needed are:
-
- installation.swf
- installation.html
- <applicationname>.swf
- product.xml
- Load the installation.html page in a web browser. Referencing the same example as in the last step, this could mean typing http://localhost/<foldername>/installation.html
- Click the installation badge to begin the installation of your application.
