Changing the font size of Dreamweaver Help in Windows

Issue

Some Windows users report that the font size used in the Dreamweaver Help files is either too small or too large.

The Help files are found under the Help menu. Files affected by this issue include:

  • Help > Using Dreamweaver
  • Help > Using ColdFusion
  • Help > Extensions > Extending Dreamweaver
  • Help > Extensions > API Reference
  • Help > Extensions > Creating and Submitting

Reason

Dreamweaver help files on Windows operating systems are merely standard Windows CHM help files. The font size for these files is controlled by Microsoft Internet Explorer's (IE) font size setting.

Solution

Changing the font size in IE will in effect increase the font size in Dreamweaver Help.

To change the font size of IE, please follow these instructions:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer
  2. On the menu, go to View > Text Size.
  3. Choose the font size you prefer
  4. Relaunch Dreamweaver Help.

Note: If you have a mouse scroll wheel, select the Help file as the active window, hold the CTRL key, then press the scroll wheel and roll the wheel back or forth to change font size.
