Features and preferences removed from Dreamweaver MX 2004
While many new features have been introduced in Dreamweaver MX 2004, some have been removed. The decision to remove features is not made lightly. It is based on user input on features they don't use and the evolution of best practices and the time required to maintain the feature during development cycles. Each feature must be tested at length for each new release, and development resources are better utilized on new features that users request than maintaining those that are not widely used.
Macromedia is interested in your input regarding new feature requests. Please use our Feature Request form for this purpose.
In Dreamweaver MX 2004, the following features have been removed:

- JavaScript Debugger
- Mini-launcher
- Sitespring Panel
- Tag Tree portion of the Tag Inspector

In Dreamweaver MX 2004, the following preferences have been removed:
- Quick Tag Editor preferences
- Deferred table update (under General preferences)
- Show attributes when inserting: Tables (under Accessibility preferences)
- Now part of the Insert Table dialog
Note: Contribute Administration functionality has been moved from Dreamweaver into Contribute. You must have Contribute 2 installed on the same machine as Dreamweaver MX 2004 in order to administer Contribute sites in Dreamweaver.
Separating Contribute administration from Dreamweaver provides important development advantages for both products. By separating the administration feature (keeping it only in Contribute), the development teams can focus on building new features for Contribute and Dreamweaver and releasing new versions as frequently as needed. Customers who have both Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Contribute 2 installed will find that the workflow and user experience for accessing these features is the same as before.
Note: The following functionality has been reinstated with the Dreamweaver MX 2004 updater:
- The Timelines functionality has been reinstated. Please see the updater Release Notes for more information.
- The Set Permissions extension has been updated and will now work with Dreamweaver MX 2004 after the updater has been installed. Be sure to download the updated extension from the Macromedia Exchange (the old version will not work in Dreamweaver MX 2004).
