ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater

This section of the document lists the issues and limitations with ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater that were discovered after the release date. Issues discovered prior to release are documented in the ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater Release Notes.

Client variable purge for data sources runs, even when setting is unchecked.
Client variable registry "purge" setting ignored. Should only run if checked.
Connection not closed after database client variable purge.

See TechNote 19279 for details. Note: Even though this TechNote specifies ColdFusion MX 6.1, it also applies to ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater.
55681 If a ColdFusion request hits before the web application is deployed, it causes ColdFusion not to serve up pages. See TechNote 19536 for details.

ColdFusion MX 6.1

This section of the document lists the issues and limitations with ColdFusion MX 6.1 that were discovered after the release date. Issues discovered prior to release are documented in the ColdFusion MX 6.1 Release Notes.

Note: The hot fixes described and linked from this TechNote are included in the ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater.

Administrator
53265 When running the ColdFusion MX 6.1 Administrator under an SSL site, the Administrator is unable to load the left navigation frame (navserver.cfm). The remainder of the page will load correctly, however the left frame normally containing the navigation links will be blank. See TechNote 18844 for details.
CFML Tag (General)
52305 Function calls inside a cfqueryparam will result in all single quotes being doubled. See TechNote 19108 for details.

Required fields in cfform / cfinput are not processed in the order they are defined within the form.
When more than one image is specified for cftreeitem, the first specified image is displayed for all levels.
Using cftree and cftreeitem throws Java ClassCastException error.
See TechNote 18951 for details.
52972 With ColdFusion MX 6.1, when cfinsert or cfupdate is used with a table with certain column names, some form fields are not correctly mapped to the table column names. The problem occurs when one column name is a portion of another, longer column name. See TechNote 18952 for details.
53797 When using the cfapplication tag with the setDomainCookies attribute set to yes, the wrong domain may be set on multihomed servers. See TechNote 19060 for details.

53852 In certain cases, when a string expression is evaluated inside a cfquery tag, each single quote character is escaped to two single quotes. See TechNote 19108 for details.

Child COM objects should not be released when the parent is released.
Empty string variables should not be passed as Nulls.
Optional arguments should be recognized correctly.
VT_INT arguments should be converted to VT_I4 integers.
If a null argument is passed to a COM object, it should be initialized VT_EMPTY.
See TechNote 18960 for details.
Database

100% CPU utilization with DataDirect 3.2 SQL Server JDBC driver.
ArrayIndexOutOfBounds error with SQL Server and Oracle drivers.
No more data error with SQL Server and Oracle drivers.
Clob object with Oracle driver obtains lock in finalize method unnecesarily, causing the garbage collection thread to block.
See TechNote 18807 for details.
53257 Inserts and updates against ColdFusion MX 6.1 password-protected data sources fail in some situations if no username and password is specified for the data source within the ColdFusion Administrator. See TechNote 18952 for details.
53486 If a data source is configured to maintain connections and the number of connections are limited (under Advanced Settings in the data source), it may cause the server to hang when trying to get a new connection, particularly if the server is under load. See TechNote 18980 for details.
General Server
CreateUUID increases the Windows system clock speed. See TechNote 19007 for details.
45263 If you use cfmail to send an e-mail with an attachment and then use cffile to delete the attachment file, the cfmail may fail because the asynchronous mail process executes after the file is deleted (you will see a FileNotFound exception in the mail log and the e-mail is not sent). The solution is to use the cfmail SpoolEnable attribute (or the ColdFusion MX Administrator setting) to disable spooling, which causes the e-mail to be delivered immediately.
53265 The DevNet Server edition does not permit using this edition in production or staging, and at runtime the DevNet Edition inserts a "watermark" into the generated output from a template, which can break generated XML well-formedness if the application is producing XML or XSLT as output. See TechNote 18845 for additional details.
Installation
After installation, Macromedia ColdFusion MX 6.1 fails to start on SuSe Linux 8.x. See TechNote 18831 for details.
51767 When you uninstall the server configuration of ColdFusion MX 6.1 on Windows 2003, you might get an error message similar to "The uninstall during this iteration failed with the following error: Unable to remove c:\cfusionmx\runtime", and the Uninstaller does not remove the ColdFusion MX directory (for example, C:\CFusionMX).

This error usually occurs because Windows services is hanging onto the jrunsvcmsg.dll. The process that has the file locked is: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe. Stopping the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service releases the lock on the file.
52669 After selecting the language option and clicking "OK" during the Macromedia ColdFusion MX 6.1 installation, the installer can quit unexpectedly without error. See TechNote 18837 for details.
Security
52589 When defining a sandbox for a parent directory (d:\) of an existing sandbox (d:\inetpub\wwwroot\cfide\administrator\), the existing sandbox is overwritten, which prevents access to the ColdFusion Administrator until the neo-security.xml file is edited manually.
Verity
53384 Title information in search results is fully capitalized, regardless of capitalization of title in original document.
