HomeSite/ColdFusion Studio 5 causes a 'Class not registered' error
Issue
When creating a project in Macromedia HomeSite 5 or Macromedia ColdFusion Studio 5, you may receive a "Class Not Registered" error.
On certain installations of HomeSite 5 and ColdFusion Studio 5, creating a new project will cause a "Class Not Registered" error. This situation is caused when the installer creates a file path incorrectly. If you are seeing these symptoms, your path will be similar to the following: "\program files\common files\macromedia \bin." Notice the extra space after "macromedia" in the path. The extra space causes the "Class not registered" error, since the name is different from what is expected.
Solution
- If there is not already a directory called "\program files\common files\macromedia\bin", create it. (This may already have been created by other Macromedia products.)
- Copy the files from the incorrectly named directory into the directory from the previous step.
- Open a command prompt from Windows (Start > Run > type
cmd). - Navigate to the "\program files\common files\macromedia\bin" directory.
cd \program files\common files\macromedia\bin - Type
regsvr32 xceedzip.dll. - Type
regsvr32 wddx_com.dll.
