ColdFusion 4.5.1 and 5: Windows 2000 / IIS5.0 / HTTP 1.1 Compression

Issue

When HTTP compression for application files in IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000 is enabled, ColdFusion pages will display the following message:

 Content-type: text/html Page-Completion-Status: Normal

Solution

Do not turn on HTTP compression of application files in Internet Information Server 5.0. If you have HTTP compression turned on, use the following steps to disable compression:

  1. Start the Internet Services Manager.
  2. From the IIS Snap-In, right-click on the icon representing the computer you wish to work on and select properties.
  3. Click the Internet Information Services tab and select WWW Service in the Master Properties pop-up menu.
  4. Click the Edit button.
  5. Click the Service tab.
  6. Uncheck the Compress application files check box located in the lower half of the Services dialog.
  7. Click Apply and OK.
