Using audio in a presentationProducts affected
When importing audio into a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation using PowerPoint's Insert > Movies and Sound > Sound from File menu command, the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint will not automatically include that audio when publishing the presentation. This TechNote will go over the steps for including and converting inserted audio into a Breeze presentation.
Inserting Audio
The Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint can use inserted audio, but before this audio can be used in the published presentation a few settings must be set correctly.
- Select Insert > Movies and Sound > Sound from File... and choose the audio file to import.
Note: Currently the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint only supports WAV files. If another file type is selected (MP3, AIFF, etc) then the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint will not be able to successfully convert the audio for publishing. - When the audio file has been selected the following dialog box will be displayed.
- Select Yes. For the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint to be able to convert the audio file it must be set to play automatically.
Convert Audio for the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint
Once the audio has been inserted into the desired slide, the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint must convert the audio in order to publish the audio with the presentation correctly. - Select Breeze > Import Audio... The Import dialog box will appear:
- Select the slide that has the inserted audio.
- Click the Import from Presentation button to convert the inserted audio. This conversion allows the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint to access and publish this audio for the selected slide.
Note: If the Import from Presentation button is not available, this may indicate the audio is an unsupported audio type or the sound was not set to play automatically. If this occurs, verify that the sound file was a WAV file and that Yes was selected as described in Step 3. - The Breeze Plug-in will now scan the audio file and prepare it for conversion. The OK button will also be activated.
- Click OK. The Breeze Plug-in converts the audio, then the Import Complete dialog box will appear:
- Click OK in the Import complete dialog box.
- Click OK in the Choose Slides and Files for Import dialog box.
- At this point the Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint will allow you to either remove the original inserted audio or to keep it in your presentation. Since the original inserted audio will not be used in the presentation, you may choose Yes.
