Audio not playing back after recording

Issue

Although audio has been recorded for a presentation, the audio is not heard when viewing a completed file or testing a file using the View Show feature.

Solution

The following solutions describe typical issues that may prevent the Breeze Plug-in from successfully recording and playing back audio. Use the following steps to help determine what may be causing this issue:

  1. Confirm that the microphone is plugged in
The microphone may have become disconnected during the recording process.
  2. Confirm that the microphone is plugged into the correct input
Most sound cards have two inputs: microphone and line in. Make sure that the microphone is plugged into the microphone input.

If you are using an external pre-amplifier for the microphone, confirm that all the connections are correct. In this situation the output of the pre-amp will usually go into the line in of a sound card.

Also verify that Microphone balance is selected to record in the Windows Volume Control Recording settings.
  3. Check the volume and connection of the computer's external speakers or headphones
The volume on the speakers or a bad connection could prevent the audio from be heard during playback.
  4. Run the Set Microphone Level Process again
Resetting the recording settings for Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint will help provide better audio quality. These settings are accessible by choosing Breeze > Record.
  5. Verify the status message on the Record Narration window
The status window should read "Recording" during the recording process. If not, you should close the window and restart the recording process.
  6. Check available disk space
You will need approximately 1 MB of disk space for every minute of audio recorded. For imported audio files you will need the same amount as the total size of the WAV files to be imported.
  7. Confirm that OK was selected instead of Cancel
Choose OK when saving audio so that the audio is saved for the project.
