Using the Director.ini file to troubleshoot script errors
How do I troubleshoot a generic script error in a projector or Shockwave movie?
Script errors in Director usually display details describing why an error occurred. However, once a projector or Shockwave movie is created, generic script errors sometimes appear, such as "Script Error, Continue?" These errors can be difficult to troubleshoot if there is no information describing why the error occurred.
The Director.ini file can aid in troubleshooting generic script errors with the "DisplayFullLingoErrorText" command. The following steps are basic instructions for using this command and should only be used as a reference. Read the instructions in the Director.ini file for more information about how the Director.ini file works.
To use the Director.ini file with a projector follow these steps.
| 1 | Using a text editing application such as Notepad or SimpleText, open the"Director.ini" file located in the Director installation folder on your hard drive.
|
| 2 | Remove the semi colon (;) from the following line:
";DisplayFullLingoErrorText=1" |
| 3 | Save a copy of the file with the same name as your projector. Be sure to include the .ini at the end of the file name. So, for example, if a projector was called "movie1.exe", save the INI file as"movie1.ini". |
| 4 | Place the file in the same directory as the projector. |
| 5 | Run the projector. |
To use the Director.ini file with a Shockwave movie follow these steps.
| 1 | Using a text editing application such as Notepad or SimpleText, open the"Director.ini" file located in the Director installation folder on your hard drive.
|
| 2 | Remove the semi colon (;) from the following line, ";DisplayFullLingoErrorText=1" |
| 3 | Save a copy of the file as "shockwave.ini" |
