Troubleshooting Macromedia Flash Player for Pocket PC

Pocket PC 2002 devices should use Macromedia Flash Player 6, which is available from the Macromedia Flash Player for Pocket PC Download web site. Troubleshooting steps in this TechNote apply to Flash Player 6.

Note: Macromedia Flash Player troubleshooting advice for specific Pocket PC devices is provided directly by the device manufacturer.

Steps for troubleshooting
  1. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Flash Player
    1. Remove the player using the Remove Programs control panel on your device.
    2. Download and reinstall Flash Player from the Macromedia Flash Player for Pocket PC Download page.

      Note: Be sure you are using the right player for your device.

  2. Try viewing Flash content from different web sites or authors
  3. This may give initial clues about whether the problem is in the content itself, or the playback of content on the test machine.

  4. Is the Flash Movie not playing at all?
  5. You may see a blank page, or receive an error message. Refer toFlash movie does not display on Pocket PC (TechNote 15379) for further assistance with this issue.

  6. Does your device meet the system requirements?
  7. Refer to Supported Devices and Platforms to verify your device meets system requirements.

  8. Are you viewing content created for Pocket PC?
  9. Some web sites implement detection schemes or delivery methods that do not account for Pocket PC.

    If the content not created for Pocket PC, you may want to view suitable content, or offer suggestions to the author. The problems with playback may be beyond your control.

  10. Are you viewing content you created?
  11. Make sure you have created this content specifically for the Pocket PC, according to the instructions in the Macromedia Flash Player 6 for Pocket PC 2002 Content Development Kit. We recommend you read this document thoroughly. Problems users experience are generally due to known issues documented in the kit.

  12. Does this content play normally on a desktop machine?
  13. If it won't play correctly on a desktop machine, move your focus away from problems on the Pocket PC and begin troubleshooting on the desktop.

    If you're having trouble getting Macromedia Flash Player installed and operating properly on a desktop machine, visit Macromedia Flash Player Support Center for installation support.
