Web hosting companies that support ASP, JSP and ColdFusion

Issue

In order to host a site created with UltraDev, you need to find a Web hosting company (sometimes referred to as an "Internet service provider" or "ISP") that hosts Active Server Pages (ASP), Java Server Pages (JSP), or ColdFusion (CF) pages. Not all Web hosting companies have the resources necessary to host these types of pages, so some research needs to be done before choosing a host.

Note: Another factor to keep in mind is database support, especially if a server-based database such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle is being used in the Web application. Again, not all Web hosting companies support all databases.

Reason

UltraDev pages use ASP, JSP, or ColdFusion to script server-side application logic and database connectivity. Special application server software needs to be installed on the Web hosting company's Web servers. Examples of application server software include: Macromedia JRun Server, Macromedia ColdFusion Server, Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), Jakarta Tomcat, etc.

Solution

Research the Web hosting company that would best suit the needs of your Web application using the list below, a search engine orWeb hosting advice site of your choice. There are a wide range of services offered by Web hosting companies, and some will even host your site for free. Another good resource for researching Web hosting companies is the UltraDev newsgroup. You may want to post a question on the UltraDev newsgroup or try searching the UltraDev newsgroup using Google Groups, to see what other UltraDev users have to say about Web hosting companies.
