Overview of specific FTP issues
FTP is the standard protocol for transferring files on the Web.
To transfer via FTP in Dreamweaver, users enter their Web server information in the Site Definition dialog box; then, in the Site window (F5), click Connect and Put to upload selected files or folders. This transfers files or folders currently selected to the specified host directory at the Web server. See Define Sites in the first section of Setting up Dreamweaver's FTP connection (TechNote 14787) for details.
This TechNote is one of several FTP TechNotes that assist in setting up Dreamweaver's FTP connection and in troubleshooting FTP issues. This particular TechNote is an overview of specific connection and transfer problems. Setting up Dreamweaver's FTP connection (TechNote 14787) and Server issues (TechNote 14833) address common connection and transfer problems.
A list of other FTP TechNotes that are helpful, including Troubleshooting FTP issues (TechNote 14834), can be found at the bottom of this TechNote in the Additional information section.
