Pencil and brush tools draw an extra line on stage

Issue

When using the Pencil or Brush Tool in Flash, clicking on the stage sometimes causes a line to appear from off-stage, with the correct line attached to it.

You are using a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet.

There are a couple of reasons this could be occurring:

  • One of the settings for the tablet's Control Panel is incorrect.
  • There is a conflict with the driver for the tablet.

Solution

To solve the rendering problem, do the following:

  1. Open the Wacom Control Panel.
  2. Choose> Settings: Scaling.
  3. Set the "Aspect" pop-up to "To Fit".
  4. Close the control panel, then restart Flash.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, do the following:

  1. Visit the Wacom web site.
  2. Download the latest drivers for your tablet.

Note: There is a known conflict with the Wacom Intuos tablet driver versions 4.2.0 and 4.1.2. If you are using version 4.1.2, go to Apple to download and install OpenGL. If you are using version 4.2.0, please check with Wacom periodically for an updated driver. Until then, disable the QuickDraw 3D HW Driver extension using Apple's Extension Manager control panel to allow Flash to work properly.
