Using Kodak Photo CD Images with Fireworks
Introduction
The images on a Kodak Photo CD are saved in a format called IMAGE PAC and use a Photo YCC color encoding metric. This is a proprietary format developed by Kodak and is now available for developers to make compatible products.
Macintosh
The images on a Kodak Photo CD viewed on a Macintosh are in two separate folders with two different formats.
The two image formats and folder locations are as follows:

PICT files are located in the folder named Photos. The PIC files are JPEG compressed. |

Image PAC format files are located in the folder named Photo_ CD. |

Note:Fireworks directly imports or opens the PICT format image. Fireworks cannot open the IMAGE PAC format.
To Import a Photo CD file into a Fireworks document do the following:
| 1 | Choose File>Import and navigate to the Kodak Photo CD. |

| 2 | Open the Photos folder and choose a desired pixel size. |

| 3 | Choose the desired image and click Open. |
|
|
| 4 | Click on the Fireworks canvas to import the image at the same size as the original. Click and drag to import the image at a different size. |

Windows
The images located in the Photo CD folder on a Kodak Photo CD viewed in Windows Explorer or My Computer are in the Image Pac format.
Note:Fireworks cannot import or open the Image Pac format. The images must be opened in another application such as Microsoft Photo Editor or Adobe Photoshop. The images can be exported from the other application in a file format such as PNG that Fireworks can open and read.

To import the Photo CD images in a Fireworks document from another application do the following:
| 1 | Open the Photo CD image in another compatible application and save or export in a compatible format. Compatible formats are PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, and a Photoshop file (.psd). |
| 2 | Import or open the bitmapped image in Fireworks. |
