How do I add an existing HTML document that does not contain an .swf file to Aftershock?

Issue

When attempting to add an existing HTML document to Aftershock (through the Add HTML menu option) that does not contain an SWF file, the message: "Aftershock comment not found" will appear.

Reason

The Add HTML command is designed to work with existing HTML documents that contain embedded SWF files. When adding an existing HTML document to Aftershock, the Add HTML command will work if the HTML document contains an embedded SWF file. If the existing HTML document does NOT contain an embedded SWF file, an alternate procedure is required.

Solution

Add the SWF file to Aftershock first, then use the Save As option to append the Aftershock code to the original HTML file. Use the following to add an existing HTML document that does not contain an swf file to Aftershock.

  1. Open the SWF file you plan to use in the HTML document into Aftershock.
  2. Go to File, Save As, and navigate to the HTML document that you wish to add, making sure the file you are saving is the same filename as the original HTML document.
  3. Aftershock will then prompt you with a message: "The HTML file already exists, do you want to append to it or overwrite it?"
  4. Click the"Append" button to append the Aftershock code to your HTML file.
