Why won't my FreeHand file export as Flash?

Issue

I'm attempting to export a FreeHand 8 file as a Flash SWF file. But when I try to export, I get an error "The document contains fills, strokes or images that are not supported in the Flash format. These objects will be ignored." I can still complete the export, but what objects are being ignored?

Reason

FreeHand cannot export a stroke to Flash if that stroke has a Cap and Join value other than standard.

Solution

Select any lines that have a cap other than "Butt" or a Join other than "Miter". Set the Cap and Join of these lines to Butt Cap and Miter Joint. This will export correctly to Flash.

Additional Information

For additional information about Caps and Joins in FreeHand, see page 164 of "Using FreeHand" version 8.
