No Preview of Flash Player files on Hard Drive in Macintosh Internet Explorer

Issue


Microsoft Internet Explorer for the Macintosh does not recognize Flash Player movies correctly when accessed from the hard drive. You can access the files through the Personal Web Server, but not as a local file on the hard drive.

Solution


To preview HTML documents containing Flash Player movies in Internet Explorer on the Macintosh do one or more of the following methods:

1 Transfer your documents to a server and preview them from there.
Or
2

Configure the Microsoft Personal Web Server to view the files without transferring them.
