Exporting a Flash movie as an AVI File causes the system to freeze
Issue
Attempts to export a Flash movie as an AVI file cause the system to freeze.
Reason
This occurs because of the way the data is stored on a Windows system. When large Flash movie files are exported as SWF, scenes may be purged from memory. When a Flash movie is exported to the AVI format, the entire movie must reside in memory. If the system runs low on resources, the result is a system freeze.
Solution
Use the following steps to make sure that your entire movie is currently in memory:
| 1 | Open flash movie that will be exported. |
| 2 | Navigate to each scene by clicking on the scene tabs. |
If the problem persists, it is probably due to not having enough memory to hold all the scenes simultaneously. To work around this, increase the amount of virtual memory allocation in the Control Panel.
| 1 | From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel. |
| 2 | Select System from the items in the Control Panel. |
| 3 | Choose the Performance tab. |
| 4 | Click the Virtual Memory button. |
| 5 | Select the "Let me specify my virtual memory settings" radio button. |
| 6 | Set both the Minimum and Maximum settings to "large value". |
| 7 | Click OK to close the dialog box. |
