Is the Color Palette in Flash Internet Safe and How Can I Reset it?

Issue

How can I reset the color pallete?

Solution

Note:If changes are made to the palette by the user, it is no longer the orginal palette provided with Flash. The colors may no longer be net safe.

To reinstate the orginal color palette

1 Quit Flash
2 Delete the appropriate file:
On the Macintosh, you'll find the file in the System folder, in the Preferences folder
Flash 2: Flash Colors
Flash 3: Flash 3 Colors
On Windows, the file will be at the root level of your Operating System folder:
Flash 2: MMFlash.clr
Flash 3: MMFlash3.clr
3 Relaunch Flash

Notes: The original color palette in Flash contains only internet safe colors.

The palette is a grid of 12 columns by 19 rows containing the 216 net safe colors. The top row of 12 colors are repeated elsewhere in the grid.

If the color palette file gets damaged or corrupted, it will be reinitialized the next time Flash is launched. However, any custom colors that have been added will not be retained. Periodically, make a backup of this file so it can be reinstated if the file gets reinitialized.

Additional Information
Flash 4 has added greater support for working with color palettes.
