PostScript fonts in an EPS substitute in display and print
IssueI am having font problems when I place my eps files in any application other than FreeHand, such as:
| |
My Truetype Fonts are showing/printing in Courier. |
| |
My Multiple Master Fonts are showing/printing in Courier. |
| |
My PostScript Type 1 fonts are showing/printing Courier, or showing/printing but the italic, bold italic, and bold versions are all showing/printing as the regular versions of that font. |
SolutionIf you have a PostScript printer on your network, make it your default printer, relaunch FreeHand, and re-export your eps file, it should look and print fine. If you do not have a PostScript printer driver installed, you will need to install a PostScript printer driver from the Windows installation CD. Apple Laserwriter will work. At the list of available ports, choose FILE. When exporting an eps from FreeHand, first go into File> Printer Setup, and select the PostScript driver. You will probably never need to actually print to the file, unless someone asks you to give them a PostScript file, or you wish to distill your PostScript into a pdf file. Your other printers will remain available for you to use in all of your programs.
Note: If you already have a PostScript driver installed, but still see one of these symptoms, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Or, install a different driver.
