Why does Flash crash my Macintosh and report a Type 3 (or 10 or 11) error?
Flash is sensitive to viral infections on the Macintosh platform, particularly the MDBF virus. The primary symptom that Flash exhibits when your Macintosh has a virus is that it will crash when you try to launch it and report an error of Type 3, 10 or 11.
In order to correct this problem, make sure that you have the most recent version of a good viral detection application and that your virus definitions library for that software is up to date; McAfee's Viruscan and Disinfectant have generally proven to be reliable in detecting the viruses that affect Flash. Check your hard drive(s) for viruses, remove any that are detected and try launching Flash again.
If no viruses are found or the problem persists please consultTechNote 3500 - General Macintosh Troubleshooting Tips.
