Completely uninstall and reinstall RoboHelp Office

Follow the steps below to reinstall RoboHelp properly on your PC.

Note: You should be familiar with working in the registry, including how to backup the registry and recover a previously backed up registry, if necessary, before following these steps.

Important: Back up all projects to a directory outside of the RoboHelp directories that were created during the installation. For instructions on how to backup your project to a new directory, refer to Knowledge Base Article 11678 (For RoboHelp HTML projects) or Article 11679 (For RoboHelp Classic projects). Also back up any "custom" modified templates you have created.

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Choose Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
  3. Find RoboHelp in the list and click Add/Remove.

Warning: If you have installed the x5.01 or x5.02 updates installed, be sure to uninstall those first.

If RoboHelp Office is not removed from the list after doing this, or is not listed, follow Knowledge Base Article 69687, Uninstalling a Previous Version when the Add/Remove Programs Doesn't Work.)

  4. Delete ALL RoboHelp directories off the hard drive that were not automatically removed. By default, they are located in the following places:
    C:\Program Files\RoboHelp Office
    C:\Program Files\RoboHTML
    C:\Program Files\RoboHELP
  5. Go into the registry editor (Start menu, select Run, then type "regedit").
  6. Delete the registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blue Sky Software
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eHelp\RoboHelp
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eHelp\RoboHTML
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blue Sky Software
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\eHelp\RoboHelp
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\eHelp\RoboHTML
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eHelp Corporation\WinHelp BugHunter
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\eHelp\Licensing
  7. Disable ALL virus software before install
(Check with your Anti-Virus vendor, or your internal support team, for instructions on how to completely disable your anti-virus software temporarily)
  8. Disable ALL non-essential programs from Task Manager.
  9. Make sure you have enough disk space before install.
  10. Clear all temp directories. (Refer to topic 65981, "How to clear the Windows temp directory" for the instructions to do this.)
  11. Make sure you have FULL local admininstrative rights during install.
Note: The Administrator cannot install the software. RoboHelp must be installed with full administrative rights by the USER of the software. You can change the user's rights back to power user or higher afterwards.
  12. Reinstall RoboHelp.
