Contribute error "Entry Point not Found"
Issue
After you install Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, Contribute will not start and returns with the error message, "Contribute.exe - Entry Point not Found."
Reason
The PSAPI.DLL file included with Contribute 3.x and Contribute 4 does not work with Internet Explorer 7. An older instance of PSAPI.DLL in the Contribute program folder needs to be updated with the version found in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder.
Solution
CopythePSAPI.DLL file from the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and place it into the Contribute program folder.
Important: Make sure you do not have Contribute running when you make the following modifications.
- Close Contribute if the application is open.
- Navigate to the Contribute program folder.
- Contribute 4: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Contribute 4\
- Contribute 3: C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Contribute 3\
- Find and rename PSAPI.DLL to PSAPI.DLL_OLD.
- Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and copy the file PSAPI.DLL.
- Paste the file PSAPI.DLL into the Contribute program folder.
- Relaunch Contribute.
Additional Information
The PSAPI.DLL file for Contribute also effects FTP login information. Please see document 57ff5d, "Contribute loses FTP login credentials after you install Internet Explorer 7".
