Issue

When upgrading from Breeze 4 to Breeze 5, the following error is displayed when running the updater:

 ERROR: Could not delete directory C:\breeze\appserver, Macromedia Breeze setup will now abort. 

Solution

The solution is to set the Breeze services to "manual" mode and restart the Breeze server.

  1. From the Breeze server, open 'Services'.
  2. Locate the following Breeze services:
    • Flash Communication Administration Server
    • Flash Communication Server (FlashComm)
    • Macromedia Breeze Application Service
  3. Right-click on the service and go to Properties.
  4. On the General tab, under 'Startup type', choose "manual" from the dropdown box.
  5. Do the same for all the services listed above.
  6. Restart the Breeze server.
