Browsing to a page that requires user authentication freezes Contribute
Issue
When you create a connection in Macromedia Contribute on a Macintosh, Contribute freezes if you use the mini-browser (click 'Browse' inside the Connection Assistant) to access a web page that requires user authentication.
Reason
When previewing a site that requires user authentication using the mini-browser, the authentication dialog box does not appear in front. The application appears to be freezing. Also, when a user attempts to bring up the dialog box by clicking somewhere on the desktop, the dialog box does not allow entry of user name and password.
This issue does not happen when you browse the same page in Contribute's main browser or by typing the URL into the Contribute browser Address bar.
Note: This has been reproduced in Contribute 3 French version and 3.01 Japanese version.
Solution
Use a web browser to browse to the site and authenticate by entering the username and password and then create a new connection within Contribute.
Additional Information
For more information about creating a connection, refer to Setting up a site connection in Contribute (TechNote tn_16646).
