Upgrading to Contribute 3.11 prompts for serial number

Issue

When you upgrade to Contribute 3.11 from Contribute 3.0 or 3.1, you are prompted to enter the serial number.

Reason

Contribute 3.11 was updated with a new installation, serialization and activation process in order to support its inclusion in Studio 8. This new installation and activation process does not automatically re-activate using older serial numbers after you install Contribute 3.11.

Note: If Contribute 3.11 is installed as part of Studio 8, then there is no problem; this issue only exists for standalone Contribute upgrades.

Solution

You must re-enter your existing serial number (either for Contribute 3.0 or 3.1) after you install the upgrade.

You can find this serial number in your original documentation or within Contribute under the Help menu (choose Help > online registration or Help > print registration menu items). Copy this serial number down before you install the Contribute 3.11 upgrade.

When you install Contribute 3.11, you will be prompted to re-enter your existing serial number. Proceed by re-entering your serial number and complete the installation process.
