ColdFusion MX 7: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource
Issue
When accessing the ColdFusion MX Administrator on a Windows 2003 machine configured with IIS 6, the following error may be encountered:
HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource
Reason
This error can occur if the IIS_WPG and IUSR accounts don't have the proper permissions to the cf_root/runtime/lib/wsconfig directory for a server installation or thejrun_root/lib/wsconfig directory for a J2EE installation.
Solution
Make sure the IIS_WPG and IUSR users are added to the permissions for the cf_root/lib/wsconfig directory. Also, IIS_WPG needs to have Read, Write and Execute permissions. Make sure the permissions cascade to the folders and DLL's beneath the wsconfig directory.
Additional Information
- 'Recursion too deep; the stack overflowed' error occurs after applying Updater 4 to JRun 4
